The park’s construction started in earnest the next year and for the next two years fifty thousand seedlings of ornamental shrubs and trees were planted. The park was opened in May of 1903 and features two islands, a river, bridges, a couple small waterfalls and alleys. This is a very large place covering over ninety hectares and featuring a racecourse as well, definitely something to see.
The Craiova Art Museum is housed in a wonderful palace built at the beginning of the 20th century. The building itself is decorated with a plethora of very elegant and expensive accents such as Venetian mirrors or candelabrums made of Murano crystal. Nowadays the place is organized into three sections, the European Art Gallery, the Romanian Art Gallery and the Brancusi Room which focuses on displaying masterpieces from the formative years of the great sculptor.
The Mihai Viteazu Square features a wonderful ensemble of artesian wells alongside the statue of Mihai Viteazu and a small decorative park represent another great sight to be seen in Craiova.
