Changdeok-gung is actually an older palace, first built in 1405 but it wasn’t used for a long time, it was however the seat of power between 1618 and 1896 and has been restored to its initial color scheme. Notable buildings are the blue-roofed Seonjeongjeon which was the King’s office and the Daejojeon or Great Making Hall which was his bedchamber. This palace also contains the famous Huwon or Secret Garden.
