One of the attractions that you must visit while in Kapadokya is the Kaymakli Underground City. This city or village is made up of about a hundred underground tunnels and the houses were built around these tunnels. The Churches of Goreme are yet another sight that you'll have to see while in Kapadokya. These churches were carved into soft rock and can be found alongside houses and monasteries that were also carved into rock. Besides the obvious novelty of them being carved into rocks the churches feature lots of examples of Byzantine art stemming from the post-iconoclastic period, the frescoes being a rather unique artistic achievement from that period.
The Zelve Monastery is also carved into rock and while it doesn't feature the rich frescoes of the Goreme churches it is still a very interesting place to visit. The place is rather large, it is spread over three valleys, two of which are connected via a tunnel, featuring a lot of rooms and passages you will not regret your visit there.
