2013 Renault Kangoo revised range
The Renault Kangoo van range has been overhauled for 2013 and has seen the introduction of the longer Kangoo Maxi variant as well as a $3500-lower starting price.
The revised range will start with a new short-wheelbase petrol manual model, priced from $20,990, while the price of the already existing SWB petrol auto is 22,990 – down $1500.
The SWB models have a 78kW/148Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine while the new five-speed manual variant consumes 7.7 litres of fuel per 100km, thus making it about seven percent more efficient than the four-speed automatic which only gets 8.3L/100km.
However, both the models have an identical 3.0-cubic meter carrying capacity and a 650kg payload and they now come with dual sliding doors.
The Reanult Kangoo Maxi long-wheelbase will replace the short-wheelbase diesel manual version and the $500 more expensive than the discontinued SWB diesel – the new Kango maxi is 384mm longer and offers 33 percent more cargo capacity and 23 percent more carrying capacity for a price of $24,990.
The Kangoo Maxi will also boast a more powerful 82kW/240Nm four-cylinder diesel engine coupled with a six-speed manual transmission, which replaces the old five-speed with the fuel consumption climbing marginally from 5.2L to 5.5L/100km. The standard Maxi will come with twin barn doors and a tailgate is available as an option.
The entire Kangoo range now comes with unpainted front and rear bumpers as well as unpainted door mirrors and small plastic wheel centre caps. This decision was taken because the extremities are by far the most commonly damaged parts of the vehicle.
There are also two option packs that are available to customers in order to enhance the Kangoo’s specification, such as the Pro Pack which adds satellite navigation, a cargo barrier, rear parking sensors and a few other things – this one costs $2000. For a thousand more you get the Premium pack that includes everything the Pro Pack does as well as electric door mirrors, foglights and several more things.
