Least polluting versus most polluting cars on the road

Winter is a time of celebration, but also of making peace with ourselves and with the world – in light of the coming Christmas. Responsibility to the environment should be an important factor nowadays when selecting a car.

To put our “green” conscience at ease, let’s look into the least polluting versus most polluting cars on the road, as of 2014.

Virtually all authors agree that one of the greatest contenders for the title of least polluting car is the Toyota Prius Hybrid. With a pollution score of 9.5 and a greenhouse score of 10, this hybrid car might be one of the “greenest” vehicles on the market and a good practice transport choice.

A larger car that nevertheless scores evenly is the Honda Civic Hybrid. For under 24.000 dollars, you can get this car in your garage and into your life.

And who said larger, SUV or 4×4 cars can’t be efficient in terms of low toxic emissions? The Ford Escape Hybrid bears witness that size is of no importance in this equation, scoring almost as high as the above smaller cars.

Meanwhile, in the land of polluting cars, the reported “meanest” cars on the market these years seem to continue to attract a public of their own, especially since they are for the most part prestigious names in the auto world. It is the case of Cadillac Escalade ESV, regarded by some tops as the most polluting car of the year 2014. Other eco-unfriendly cars include Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and the Rolls Royce Phantom Ewb. Owning a prestigious brand car means a price to pay… for the innocent others, unfortunately.

Nevertheless, polluting or not, cars are here to stay. They have become a necessity rather than a commodity, so whether they buy them, rent a car or share public transport, people resort to cars on a daily basis.
