Porsche is celebrating 50 years of the 911

It would appear that 1963 was quite the year when it comes to the auto industry, so we’ll be seeing a lot of 50th anniversary celebrations this year, and today we’ll talk about one such celebration.

We’re talking about Porsche – even though they’re not celebrating fifty years of existence, having already done that in 1981 – who are celebrating fifty years of probably their most iconic model, the Porsche 911.

A vehicle with the 911’s reputation is definitely worthy of celebrating fifty years of existence and the German automaker isn’t going to let its creation down. They’ve recently announced a series of special events that will be dedicated to the 911, the first of which being the ‘Retro Classics’ automobile show in Stuttgart.

This exhibit will show four of the most iconic 911 models in the history of the model, including the Type 754 T7, the pre-series model – designed by founder Ferdinand Porsche – which is considered to be the core of the very first 911.

The Stuttgart show will actually be the starting point of a year-long world tour for the 1967 model 911, in which it will be taken to five continents and be shown in motorsports events and exhibits in California, Paris, Australia, China and the UK.

Another such event will be called “50 Years of the Porsche 911” which will start on June 4 and run till September 29 of this year.

The anniversary celebration will be concluded with the publishing of a new “911×911” anniversary book that will be a chronicle of the entire history of the Porsche 911.

The Prague Spring International Music Festival

While it stands to reason to think that one shouldn't really require an excuse or a reason to visit Prague, because the city itself is the reason, those who are not yet persuaded by its charms but who do enjoy the soothing sounds of symphony orchestra and chamber music should look into visiting the city during its annual Prague Spring International Music Festival.
