Audi A3 sedan will be available in 2013
Debuting at the New York Audo Show, Audi’s new A3 will be available for the first time as a sedan, when their all-new Audi A3 sedan launches in late 2013.
This was the first time that the public could see the small car, which blends the three-box and coupe design philosophies of Audi, with the 4.46m-long A3 sedan featuring short overhangs, sharper door lines and slightly larger wheel arches flares than the Audi A3 sportback. The A3 sedan’s boot capacity is also increased by 55 litres, to 425 litres.
The new four-door also features small changes to its bonnet, bumpers, air intakes and grille, while the rear end gets an integrated boot-lid spoiler and optional LED tail-lights – but the LED headlights are standard.
The Audio A3 sedan that will launch across Europe will feature a three-engine line-up, with two petrol and one diesel four-cylinder engines, all of which will feature direct injection and stop-start technology.
Fuel consumption figures will go as low as 4.1 litres per 100km with CO2 emissions reaching 108 grams per kilometer; the sedan will reach zero to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds which can be achieved either via a six-speed manual transmission or S tronic dual-clutch automatic.
The A3’s technology package will come with the Audi connect system – the German manufacturer’s own integrated wireless hotspot system – but it will also include a new parkin space information service. This new system will display information on parking spaces and parking garages near a destination selected by the driver, so it will definitely help with planning a trip in urban settings.
Other technologies featured by the car will be electronic stability control with an electronic differential lock, an electromechanical parking brake, park and lane assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control which features Audi’s auto-braking Pre Sense collision avoidance technology.
The full pricing and specification details will be announced closer to the car’s launch in the autumn of 2013.
