The Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept is meant to offer styling cues for future models from the German company, as well as for the interior design of the third-generation TT that will be out this year.

This crossover will be making its debut at this week’s 2014 Detroit Motor Show, where the new grille and LED headlamps will be previewing a bold front-end approach for the models including the TT sports car and mid-sized A4 sedan.

The Allroad Shooting Brake is 4.2 metres long and 1.85 meters wide, thus being slightly bigger than the outgoing TT, while also featuring two doors and four seats.

It features some extra height from other Audi Allroad models as well as a similar dark grey body cladding, but also comes with a compact-wagon body style.

The new Audi TT will also be a design evolution from the current coupe, including the stylish, turbine-like air vent nozzles that also incorporate climate control buttons, as well as the high-resolution 12.3-inch screen dominating the ‘instrument cluster’.

As far as power goes, the vehicle comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 215kW and a 40kW electric motor work together to feed power to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

There’s a secondary electric motor with 85kW positioned at the rear axle and can turn the Shooting Brake into the all-wheel-driver in case the vehicle heads off onto surfaces with reduced grip. The electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion battery pack which is positioned ahead of the rear axle, so as to avoid the adverse affects of weight distribution or cargo space. Running on electric power alone will allow the vehicle to run for 50km.

The total power and torque figures go up to 300kW and 650Nm and according to Audi, the Allroad Shooting Brake is capable of getting to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds, with a fuel consumption as low as 1.9 litres per 100km.
