Bermuda – More than just the shorts

Bermuda

Bermuda is one of the very few last remains of what once used to be the very vast British colonial empire in North America. While nowadays Bermuda is a self-governing British territory the place itself is part British, part American but mostly Bermudian.

The island culture in Bermuda offers an interesting mix of formal British culture wrapped up in a pair of Bermuda shorts, that’s possibly the best way of explaining it. With this interesting culture-mix come a plethora of varied things to see and do, so many types of visitors will find Bermuda to their liking, whether they’re interested in lounging on the beach and unwinding or they’re interested in exploring the four hundred years of history that the islands boast, and of course many thing in between.

Bermuda is a very popular holiday destination mostly because of its sub-tropical climate combined with powdery soft and slightly pink beaches, very clear waters and lush flora and fauna. Part of the weather’s charm stems from the fact that even during the winter the temperatures are more than decent with October and November still being warm enough to allow sunbathers to enjoy their favorite pass-time.

Over the place’s four hundred year history, the inhabitants have seen a lot of influence from a plethora of cultures, and the menus especially betray the blend of British, African and West Indian influences.

Bermuda is a holiday destination that packs everything in, it’s great for those who come here for the sun, sand and other water related activities, but it’s also great for those who are interested in the nightlife or the more modern aspects of the place.

The entire place is practically made for scuba diving and snorkeling, there are underwater caves and quiet bays to explore at your leisure.

As far as the nightlife goes, the most popular place to be is somewhere on the busy waterfront at Front Street in Hamilton, this is a place where Victorian-era houses offer wonderful Atlantic views, and music off all types permeates the air. Whether you want to listen to the traditional steel-drum or calypso bands, or you’re into some live jazz, or you want to enjoy a pint at a pub, you’ll find them all here.

Bermuda is almost always a safe choice when it comes to holidays in the sun, give it some further study and see if it fits your needs and wants.
