Citroen’s offerings for the Paris Motor Show
Citroen is slated to display its new DS3 Cabrio at the Paris Motor Show next week, and there has been a virtual barrage of information and images released on the net by the French carmaker. The most obvious difference between the DS3 Cabrio and the closed-top model that it is based on is the center section of the roof which features a folding canvas top.
It’s definitely expected for the Cabrio to get most of the attention however Citroen will be bringing a different DS3 to the Motor Show as well, the Electrum this time, an all-electric plug-in concept.
The DS3’s Electrum will feature two 65 kW electric motors capable of generating 87 HP set on the front axle and a 17.5 kWh lithium-ion battery provided by Panasonic – the charging socket will be available in the same spot where you’d find the fuel cap, in fact being hid under the classic cap.
There are yet no photos of the Electrum concept but we are expecting it to look just like the DS3 Cabrio since it has the same title.
What we do know is what Citroen has said about their plug-in which is that on the European test cycle the car’s range was of 120 km, and that with the use of a quick-charge station, the battery pack can reach eighty percent charge in about half an hour.
The location of the electric motors in the front of the car means that the electric DS3 will feature the same passenger and boot space as its internal combustion-powered counterpart.
This fact is interesting to note because it might hint at a production version being available sometime in the near-future, we don’t know yet.
