Mitsubishi Attrage coming in early 2014

The name Attrage is meant to blend the word ‘attractive’ with the model name ‘Mirage’, the small hatchback with which the new compact four-door sedan shares the basic platform and mechanical hardware.
Thanks to this similarity, the Attrage will also be manufactured alongside the Mirage at the company’s Laem Chabang Industrial Estate assembly facility in Thailand, which is expected to ramp up production above 100,000 units by 2017.
The Attrage will be launching locally in Thailand in July but it is not yet known whether or not the Attrage will be available in other markets, but if they will we might expect it to appear in some other showrooms during the first quarter of 2014.
Just like the Mirage, the Mitsubishi Attrage will feature a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which will most likely produce an identical output to the Mirage’s 57kW of power and 100Nm of torque.
The five-speed manual and automatic continuously variable transmissions – CVT – options will also be available with the combined cycle fuel consumption estimated at around 4.6 litres per 100km.
The Japanese car maker has promised that the Attrage will offer class-leading manoeuvrability thanks to its 4.8m turning radius as well as the lightest body in its market segment thanks to the extensive use of high-tensile steel. They continued to mention that the Attrage’s aerodynamic performance and interior space will be among the best in the class.
The Attrage and the Mirage will be part of a two-pronged attack on the city-car segment, thus mirroring the strategy from other Japanese brands.
