Skoda expands Monte Carlo line and introduces special edition

monte-carlo

Skoda is planning on introducing a few new models at next week’s Geneva motor show: Monte Carlo versions of the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback as well as two Octavia variants.

The new models will debut alongside the next-gen Octavia Scout and of course the headline act for the brand, the VisionC ‘four-door coupe’ concept.

The addition of the Citigo, yeti and Rapid Spaceback to the Monte Carlo brand brings the number of the line-up to five, joining the already available Fabia hatch and wagon versions.

The new Monte Carlo variants will feature 15- to 17-inch black alloy wheels, dark-tinted windows as well as black exterior trim elements, while the Yeti and Rapid will also gain a black-painted roof.

The Monte Carlo editions feature black-trimmed cabins with red-stitched steering wheels, sports seats and distinctive fabric design.

The Octavia L&K edition will be joining the Monte Carlo trio – L&K is named after the company’s founding fathers, Laurin and Klement. Available on sedan and wagon body styles, the L&K package adds 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and tail-lights, brown leather/alcantaar seats, a canton audio system as well as a unique decorative trim.

The Octavia L&K will be available with a 132kW 1.8-litre petrol engine and two 2.0-litre diesel capable of producing 110kW and 135kW.

The L&K edition will be presented alongside the Octavia G-Tec – Skoda’s second compressed natural gas-powered production car. The G-Tec will be fitted with a turbocharged 81kW 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine running both on petrol and CNG. According to the Czech company, on a full petrol tank you’ll get up to 920 kilometres while two full gas tanks will extend that by 410km, thus giving the model a theoretical total range of 1330km.
