Suziki revealed SX4 S-Cross engine details
The Suziki SC4 S-Cross will be launching in late 2013 but the company has thought it would be a good idea to release the engine specification a bit earlier.
The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross was revealed earlier this year at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, being the materialization as the production version of the brand’s 2012 S-Cross concept.
The entry-level naturally aspirated petrol motor will produce 88kW of power at 6000rpm and 156Nm of torque at 4400rpm. There’s the option of pairing the engine either with a five-speed manual or an automatic continuously variable transmission, laid out in either front- or four-wheel-drive.
The average CO2 emissions will range from 125-136 grams per kilometer, which leads to a combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.3-5.7 litres per 100km.
The turbocharged diesel version will produce an identical 88kW at 4000rpm to the petrol but will result in more than twice as much torque, peaking at 320Nm from 1750rpm.
The diesel engine will come only with a six-speed manual transmission. Front- and four-wheel-drive variants will also be available, with the emissions averaging 110-115g/km and fuel consumption measuring 4.1-4.3L/100km.
The outgoing SX4 is a chunky, tallboy hatch, while this second-generation SX4 S-Cross will be taking on more of a conventional compact crossover proportions.
Being 4300mm long, 1765mm wide and 1575mm tall, the new Suzuki SX4 S-Cross is 150mm longer, 10mm wider and 30mm lower than the outgoing model. The wheelbase has grown 101mm to 2601mm, contributing to creating a more spacious interior and a larger boot, up from 253 litres to 430L.
These dimensions are in tune with what customer research lead by the Japanese carmaker has found, namely that customers are looking for a bigger vehicle.
According to what is known since Geneva, the model will also feature a double sliding glass panoramic sunroof, a world first.
