The Lamborghini Egoista revealed
Lamborghini has just furthered its reputation for extreme models with the recent unveiling of the Lamborghini Egoista.
The model was revealed at a ceremony in Sant’Agata marking the end of the Lamborghini 50th anniversary grand tour; the Egoista was designed as something of ‘a gift from Lamborghini to Lamborghini’.
Having been penned by Walter De Silva – Volkswagen Group’s head of design – the Egoista pays homage to the Italian carmaker’s trait of being made passion and heart more than with the brain.
According to the company, the vehicle was made for just one person, so that they can have fun and express their personality so much more than before. It was designed simply for hyper-sophisticated individuals who want the most extreme and special things in the world.
It represents an extreme of hedonism, a vehicle without compromises, basically selfish hence the name of ‘Egoista’ – which means selfish in Italian.
The Egoista is made from aluminium and carbonfibre and powered by a 441kW 5.2-litre V10 engine borrowed from the Gallardo – the single-seat Egoista was inspired by the world of aviation, most notably the Apache attack helicopter.
The cockpit section can be ejected in an emergency and it features automatically operated aerodynamic flaps rather than having fixed spoilers, two roof-mounted lights, orange anti-glare glass as well as a head-up display unit.
Further-more, the exit procedure implies the ‘pilot’ to remove the steering wheel, rest it on the dashboard, open the dome with an electronic command and then stand up in their seat, sit down on a very precise and well represented point of the left-hand bodywork, after which they have to swivel their legs 180 degrees.
The exterior design is aimed at mirroring the overall profile of a bull with its horn lowered preparing to charge, while also looking like a very modern and armored vehicle. The interior is exclusively focused on functionality, featuring a racing seat, a four-point harness and a stylized open-wheel-type steering wheel.
