The new Mercedes B Class

The B Class has always been a weird choice – it wasn’t a hatchback, nor was it an MPV; it was expensive considering its size, however it was cheap for a Mercedes; it was a bit too practical to be meant for youngsters but too unconventional to attract the older public, it was an odd duck to say the least.
The new B Class was built by Mercedes from scratch, which is a bit weird coming from the same people who invented the niche trends and a whole phylosophy on building several models on the same framework.
The exterior, as you can see from the above picture, looks like a well proportioned futuristic bubble, a drop of dynamism if you may, and while it doesn’t come standard with the alloy wheels nor with the LED and Xenon lights, those are worth the extra money in order to better complete the image of the new B Class.
The quality of the materials used for the interior has been increased and the entire thing looks much better put together. The car also comes standard with a plethora of features, such as front collision detection, Pre-Safe system, loads of airbags, a great multimedia sistem, and pretty much any acronimed feature in the book.
As far as test cars go, the current ones feature a 109 HP 180 CDI, which might not seem like a lot, but it has it where it counts, you won’t feel like you need more but you won’t feel like you’re going racing anytime soon either.
Performance wise it is hard to tell right now, but Mercedes claim the car can do 0 to 100 km/h in about 11 seconds and has a consumption of about 4.4 liters per hundred kilometers, however these numbers may refer to the car with the optional double clutch gearbox since the manual one requires quite a bit of concentration so that the gear shifting takes place at ideal moments.
