The two doors, four wheels and 6.6-litre turbo diesel V8 capable of reaching a 100km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds is known as the Trident Iceni sports car.

The British sports car brands has announced the plan to roll out the Iceni Magna coupe and Iceni Venturer shooting brake wagon on a global scale.

The sleek black vehicle runs on a huge 6.6-litre turbocharged V8 diesel engine, originating from a pickup truck, which is however tuned to run on bio-diesel and boasting a range of as much as 2000 miles – or 3219 kilometers – on a single tank.

The engine is capable of producing a massive 295kW of power and 950Nm of torque thanks to a technology the company describes as “torque multiplication technology”. Interestingly enough, if that much pulling power just doesn’t fill your fancy, there’s an upgrade pack available which will push the maximum outputs to 485kW and 1433Nm.

The unknown and cryptic technology keeps revs low and helps the engine cut fuel consumption “by 20 percent” according to the company at least, meaning that the engine never works hard, coasting at just 980rpm and the six-speed automatic transmission is capable of shifting up a gear at 3000rpm to make the most of the torque produced by the engine. According to the company the engine won’t be hampered by a low top speed, saying that it can reach 322km/h.

Designer and founder of Trident – Phil Bevan – said that his cars are meant to deliver greats speed and performance combined with outstanding fuel efficiency, achieved through Trident’s unique torque multiplication technology.

According to the company, the Iceni models will be available to buy globally and prices are set to start at 96,000 pounds Sterling.
