One of the highlights of the cathedral is the Gallus portal situated on the western facade which is considered to be the most important Romanesque sculpture in the country.
Another important religious building which is unfortunately somewhat underrated, much like the entire city as a whole, is the Elisabethen which is the first new Protestant church built in the city after the Reformation and is considered to be amongst the most important neo-Gothic church buildings in Switzerland.
