Second-gen Nissan Qashqai has been revealed

The second-gen Nissan Qashqai has just been revealed and it shows off a new crossover which promises a higher-quality cabin, increased practicality and a more efficient, all-turbocharged engine line-up.
The Qashqai has been a very popular model for Nissan, especially in Europe where it accounted for 1.5 of its 2 million global sales.
The new Qashqai sits on a new platform that it shares with Renault but which is 49mm longer, 20mm wider and 15mm lower than the outgoing generation. It features a similar shape but it has a sharper and more stylish execution of the details, including the wraparound headlight and grille section, creased sides and clamshell bonnet.
According to the company they have freed up more cabin space, including an extra 10mm of headroom and the SUV-like elevated seating has also been retained.
The cabin design and quality has increased more significantly, especially when compared with the outgoing model which has been lackluster in this department. Nissan has invested in higher-grade materials and at least the photos would suggest a more premium look for the Interior of the second-gen Qashqai.
Boot space has also been increased by 20 litres to 450L, the tailgate opens higher and the parcel shelf can be stored now with the extra added feature of reversible cargo floors.
The new Qashqai will come in both front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel-drive, the latter will be called All-Mode 4×4-I and it will feature a multi-link rear suspension instead of the less sophisticated, and cheaper, torsion beam arrangements of the standard models.
The transmissions will range again between a six-speed manual or X-tronic continuously variable auto. These will couple with a selection of four Renault-Nissan alliance engines which are made up of two turbo petrols and two turbo diesels.
The entry-level petrol is a 1.2-litre turbo known for powering the Renault Clio. This replaces the outgoing models’ 1.6-litre and produces 85kW of power and 190Nm of torque, being rated at 5.6L/100km.
