Toyota unveils two concept for Chinese market

Toyota-Yundong-Shuangqing-Concept

The 2013 Shanghai auto show is fully underway and today we’ll be taking a short look at what Toyota has to offer.

The Japanese carmaker has unveiled two very futuristically styled concept vehicles that have been designed specifically for the Chinese market.

The concepts are the Toyota Yundong Shuangqing II sedan and the Toyota FT-HT Yuejia MPV, both of them previewing new production models that will be sold exclusively in China over the coming years.

According to the Japanese automotive giant, the YundongShuangqing II concept will is equipped with a hybrid system that they’re still developing at the Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing R&D Centre in Changshu, China.

They continue to explain that the word ‘Yundong’ means “movement upon clouds” and Toyota’s current corporate slogan on the Chinese market is intended to convey an image of innovation, dynamism and eco-friendliness.

‘Shuangqing’ translates to something akin to “dual support” and it refers to the concept’s use of twin petrol and electric power sources.

The six-seater FT-HT Yuejia concept is meant to appeal the younger Chinese customers with the word ‘Yuejia’ expressing the notion of a “happy family”.

Most other details of the two concepts are still being kept close to Toyota’s vest, we don’t know any specifics about the powertrains and production timelines.

According to Toyota Motor Corp vice chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada stated that the concepts are meant to mark 50 years of the Japanese carmaker’s presence in China and are symbolic of their pursuit of continued growth for the next fifty years.

The first Toyota Crown was exported to China in 1964 and ever since that moment the Japanese carmaker has interacted with its Chinese customers and partners in order to offer the best designed products and services for the Chinese market.
