Skoda is preparing to launch its 2016 SUV

After having won the sympathy of the public with its extremely popular models, Fabia and Octavia, Skoda is preparing to launch its 2016 SUV.

Although the model is still under development and the official release of the new Skoda SUV has been rumored to be by the end of 2016, the first “spy” photos have appeared online. With this model, Skoda hopes to break the ice and help the company reach their 1.5 million worldwide sales target by 2018.

It seems the wait will not be very long anymore and that the Skoda SUV will be available in two variants, with 5 and 7 seats. With capabilities able to match the Land Rover, Skoda SUV is meant to provide competition for models such as Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento.

Since 1991, the Czech manufacturer Skoda has been owned by the Volkswagen Group. Therefore, the final design of the Skoda SUV is expected to borrow the looks of “sister” VW vehicles, with a rugged touch, and tech from Volkswagen models like the Touareg.

Cost remains a priority for the people at Skoda, that maintains a policy of “people’s car” for an attractive price and large volume of sales.

The Director of Skoda, Dr Winfried Vahland, has stated that the company plans to keep the car financially accessible, with a price somewhere in the vicinity of 35.000 dollars. The new Skoda Superb 2015 was recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The cost of this model is also quite accessible (with a starting price of around 27.000 dollars). Moreover, the Skoda SUV is expected to benefit from the same platform and 4 cylinder turbo engines.

We look forward to seeing the novelties of Skoda on the road. In the meantime, Skoda is present on the automotive market as well as in International car hire companies.
