The Future Volkswagen Camper will be electric
Nowadays, with the oil crisis and more and more ONG`s raising awareness regarding the grim reality of pollution, car manufacturers are becoming increasingly more interested in launching eco friendly models, hybrid, electric and battery powered cars being the the pride of all car companies. The Future Volkswagen Camper will be electric, or so say the managers of the German car producer.
The journey of the Volkswagen Camper began in the 1950s, when the car was originally called Type 2. It is a “granddad” of the modern passenger and cargo vans and inspired the American models of the 1960s.
Dr Heinz-Jakob Neusser, the chairman of the VW board, stated that the only way of keeping the original 1950s design of the VW Camper would be to fit some strong batteries that would charge a powerful electric motor under the floor of the vehicle. Though the people at Volkswagen are not quite there yet with production, the engineers in charge are working assiduously at perfecting the model, while keeping the price accessible.
The classic Volkswagen Camper opened a whole new world of possibilities for people who wanted to go on road trips or had cargo to transport from one place to another.
The 2003 fifth generation, the Volkswagen Transporter T5, quickly gained popularity as a commercial vehicle, particularly in Europe (Germany, the UK, Russia, Turkey and France being the greatest target markets). The accessibility and the facilities presented by the model are undeniable and the price is comparatively accessible – a real “people’s car”.
Of course, the first Campers will appear in showrooms, but there is still no word of that happening in the near future. Anyway, we promise to keep you posted! Meanwhile, you can rent a car online. In the worldwide car hire fleet, you will surely find larger vehicles and the VW models to fit your needs.
