Car or three-wheeler motorcycle? Erm… car, definitely!
When we talk about conveyance options for the masses, road vehicles to be more specific, there are essentially two options: either you go for a car or for a (motor) bike. Polaris Slingshot 2015, between car and motorcycle will nevertheless show you just how much the line between cars and two-wheeled motorized vehicles has thinned.
Car or three-wheeler motorcycle? Erm… car, definitely! Why? Because innovative as a three-wheeler car might be, Polaris Slingshot also shows you that some new things are still just too good to be true… and safe.
Nevertheless, it might be interesting to know that, if neither the car nor the “classic” motorbike with two wheels works for you, there is a third option, a hybrid vehicle. Morgan has a Three Wheeler launched, as well as Can-Am with its Spyder prototype; and more recently, there was talk of the Polaris Slingshot 2015.
Polaris Slingshot 2015 had a design similar to the X-Box and a three-wheel appearance. It also featured a motor from General Motors, with an four-cylinder Ecotec of 2.4 liter and it already hit the US market.
Unfortunately, shortly afterwards, this very January, Polaris had to issue a warning that all Slingshot owners had to stop using the vehicles, while commercialization is suspended as well. This is due to serious issues found at the level of steering. There appear to be problems with the ball bearings in the steering rack which may cause loss of control of the vehicle.
Polaris sent letters to Slingshot owners and these safety issues will hopefully be solved as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, three-wheeled Polaris Slingshot models stay parked and we have to turn back to the classic option of car driving. And don’t use the fact that you don’t have a car as a pretext: you can choose to rent a car online.
