Without a doubt one of the most popular holiday destination in all of Mexico, Puerto Vallarta has been offering its wonderful beaches, fine resorts and its activities to its visitors for many decades. Simply referred to as “Vallarta” by its many returning visitors, this lively resort stretches around the Bay of Flags and is backed by lush palm-covered mountains, for a lot of people there are fewer places that one could go for a cosmopolitan vacation.
Between lazing around on the dazzling sandy beaches, browsing the shops, enjoying the local gastronomy or attending a bull-fight, there are a lot of things to occupy your time with while in Puerto Vallarta.
Of course these aren’t the only things by far that the city has to offer, there are plenty of activities that one can engage in such as cruises, horseback riding, day tours and driving trips.
Puerto Vallarta is also very popular due to the large range of wonderful accommodations that it offers, which in turn cater to all types of budgets; this means that you’ll find many hotels and all-inclusives at some very reasonable prices and the popular activities such as snorkeling and boat rides are relatively low priced thanks to the demand.
Undoubtedly the main draw of the place is the Pacific Ocean and obviously the beach, but Puerto Vallarta is also a great destination for water sport lovers and the coral reefs around Los Arcos and Islas Marietas are home to dolphins and gliding manta rays; even more interestingly you might be lucky enough to spot some migrating humpback whales.
In case you get a little bit sun burnt or you just need a bit of a break from the constant water activities, the Sierra Madre Mountains in the background offer a great place to cool off in places such as the Botanical Gardens.
Those interested in the place’s nightlife can rest assured that there are many places catering to their needs as well. First of all the fiestas in Puerto Vallarta tend to start on the street with roaming bands of mariachi singing their hearts out on the Malecon. The downtown area is where you’ll find bars that feature Djs and salsa side by side, alongside late-night cafes.
